Grande statue de l'Ubangi, probablement Ngbaka
Identifier les sculptures de l'Ubangi est particulièrement complexe
J'ai vu une statue avec des scarifications très similaires dans Plastiek van Kongo d'Olbrechts, planche 28, en bas à gauche mais l'auteur ne s'avance pas à donner un nom de tribu. Voir dernière photo
D'après J-L Grootaers, cette statue est maintenant dans les collections musée de l'Université de Gand (Ubangi p54)
Les Ngbaka ou Bwaka vivent dans le nord du Congo, dans l'Ubangi (ou Oubangui)
Ils sont les voisins des Ngbandi, des Ngombe et des Ngata

Identifying the sculptures of the Ubangi is particularly complex
I saw a statue with very similar scarifications in Olbrechts' Plastiek van Kongo, plate 28, bottom left but the author does not go so far as to give a tribal name. See last photo
According to J-L Grootaers, this statue is now in the museum collections of the University of Ghent (Ubangi p54)
The Ngbaka (or Bwaka) live in the north of the Congo, in the Ubangi area.
They are neighbors of the Ngbandi, the Ngombe, and the Ngata.
