Belle sculpture, à la coiffure "en cascade" typique des Luba Shankadi
La stylisation est assez rare, mais déjà rencontrée; le bas des jambes en pattes d'éléphants, les mains et la poitrine quasi absentes, les scarifications linéaires horizontales...

Les Luba sont un grand peuple de l'est de la RDC. Leurs sièges à caryatides, leurs porteuses de coupes, bâtons de chefs, porte-flèches, herminettes et statues cultuelles sont très célèbres et parmi les objets les plus prisés dans l'Art Africain.

LUBA SHANKADI STATUE
Beautiful sculpture, with the "cascade" hairstyle typical of the Luba Shankadi
Stylization is quite rare, but already encountered; the bottom of the legs in elephant legs, the hands and the chest almost absent, the horizontal linear scarifications...
The Luba are a great people in eastern DRC.
Their caryatid seats, their cup holders, chiefs' sticks, arrow holders, adzes and ancestral statues are very famous and among the most valued objects in African Art.
