LWENA MASK
Beautiful old mask, it would have been collected in 1938

A label inside, with this inscription:
"Type of Baluena masks used for the investiture of chiefs among the Baluena found in Dilolo. Male. Dilolo. March 15, 1938"


The Lwena are a small Bantu people (by number) living mainly in Angola, but also in Congo DRC. Culturally, artistically, they are close to the Tshokwe

GOOD PROVENANCE: Patric Claes
Patric Claes is a Belgian African Art dealer, located in Brussels. He is a specialist in the traditional arts of the Congo.
Participating in the last Cultures Bruneaf in 2019 at Sablon, Brussels, he also organized an exhibition of Masques Mbangu Pende (disease masks) in 2017
