LENGOLA - Superb Stool

Small seat with bold architecture.
Four stylized characters each reduced to a head and two limbs which join those of their neighbors to form a closed chain with very elegant interlacing.
We can see a Lengola seat with a very similar design in the work of ML Félix (page 76-77, n°3, see bibliography). Another stool in " L'Art Lega - Grandeur et Humility" page 454

The Lengola are a Bantu forest people of Central Africa, settled in the center east of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), They are politically and culturally close to the Mbole, Metoko, Kela and Yela

Their art (and particularly this stool) has certain similarities with that of the Lega, located further east
