Among the Kumu, the Nsembu masks are the most important objects, the female or male masks are generally distinct, but can be brought together and juxtaposed as is the case here

The Kumu are a Bantu people living in the equatorial forest of eastern Congo DRC in the province of North Kivu, they are neighbors, among others, of the Lega, Leka, Lengola, Songola, Pere, Kwame and of the Nyanga
