LUBA - SCEPTER, STICK OF COMMAND
Command sticks, symbols of authority, were reserved for leaders, village chiefs or important dignitaries. They displayed the social position of their holders.
The plank-like section engraved with geometric patterns is called dibulu . The female representation that surmounts it is of good quality, the headdress is typical, the shapes are soft and generous, and it exudes great serenity. The abdominal scarifications and the hands placed on the chest are so many details that make me attribute it to the style of the Middle Luvua

The Luba are a large people of the DRC.
Their seats with caryatids, their carriers of cups, staffs of chiefs, arrow holders, adzes and cult statuettes are very famous and among the most prized objects in African Art.
