Like their neighbors Songye, the Luba created these very recognizable and sought-after striated masks
The Luba are a large people of eastern DRC. Their seats with caryatids, carriers of cups, staffs of chiefs, arrow holders, adzes and statues of ancestors are very famous and among the most prized objects in African Art.
PROVENANCE: Patrick Claes
Patric Claes is a Belgian African Art dealer, located in Brussels. He is a specialist in the traditional arts of the Congo.
Participating in the last Cultures Bruneaf in 2019 at Sablon, Brussels, he also organized an exhibition of Masques Mbangu Pende (disease masks) in 2017
